How it works
What is a 12-step program?
A 12-step program is a fellowship-based recovery program first developed in 1939 by people working through severe alcohol addiction, which proved so effective it has been adapted for every form of compulsion and hardship since. It is a tested, plainly written path of twelve actions taken in order, and has helped more than five million people work through addiction, compulsion, and hidden pain. Each step asks you to look honestly at one piece of your life — not all at once, just one at a time. The work is done with a sponsor: a person walking the steps further along, not a therapist and not an authority. The steps do not require you to attend meetings, to speak publicly, or to convert to anything. They require only that you are willing to read, to be honest on the page, and to keep going.
Why does this exist online and in Arabic?
Because for many people in the Gulf and across the Arabic-speaking world, walking into a room to ask for help is not possible. The cost — to reputation, marriage, family standing, employment — is too high. An online program written in Arabic and English removes the room without removing the work. You read on your phone. You write to one sponsor. No one in your life is told. The same twelve steps that have helped millions of people in person can be worked privately, at home, in the language you think in.
Do I have to give my real name?
No, never. You choose a pseudonym when you begin and that is the only name the platform sees. Your sponsor knows you by that name and nothing else. We do not ask for your phone number, your address, or your employer. If you need to be reached, you choose how — by an anonymous email, a Telegram handle, or nothing at all. The privacy of your real identity is structural: there is no field in the system that asks for it.
Who will see what I write?
Only your assigned sponsor. Sponsors are people who have already worked the steps and are walking them again, further along. They are not therapists, not clergy, and not authority figures. They have no power to report you, contact your family, or share what you write. Their role is to read what you put on the page, ask one or two honest questions, and walk beside you to the next step. Nothing you write is shared with other participants, posted anywhere, or used for any other purpose.
Is this religious?
It draws on biblical wisdom because that is the historical foundation of the 12-step model — the steps were written that way in 1939 and have stayed that way. The language we use is faith-neutral and spiritual rather than denominational. We do not push conversion to any religion. Muslim, Christian, doubting, secular, and quietly searching people have all worked these steps. You bring your own understanding of the Higher Power who has been with you all along, and the program walks alongside it, not against it.
How long does it take?
At your pace. Some people work a step in a week. Some take months on a single step and that is also right. There is no clock, no deadline, no measure of speed that means anything. What matters is that you keep reading and keep being honest on the page. Most people find the first three steps take longer than they expected and the later steps move faster than they feared. You decide. You can pause, return, and pick up where you left off.
How much does it cost?
A one-time low fee paid online by secure payment unlocks the full course. Reading the introduction and the first step is free, so you can see what you are choosing before you choose it. There is no subscription, no recurring charge, and no upsell. If cost is the only reason you cannot begin, write to us through the contact page — we will not let that be the reason.
What if I am not ready yet?
Then read. Read the introduction, read the first step, read the questions you are not ready to answer. Reading is not a commitment. Many people read for weeks or months before they write a single word, and that reading is already part of the work. Return when you are ready. The pages will be here.
